So, just as you are arriving at the fuel dock
(or any other area that requires precise maneuvering)
you don't expect the engine shifter controls to malfunction!
That's what happened to me today. Luckily, it worked in a
bit of a degraded mode, but I made it to the dock safely.
Upon further review I found one loose and one missing bolt
that was supposed to hold the gear shift lever assembly
place. After disassembling, I had to go to the hardware
store to replace the missing fastener. With it reinstalled
and reassembled, it should provide many hours of worry-free
operation. In the future, I'd like to swap the position of
the throttle and gear shifter handles. With the throttle
on the port side, it's been inadvertently bumped by an
elbow or arm. I think its customary to have the throttle
on the starboard (or inboard) side of the control quadrant
anyway. Another day perhaps...
